Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains the small data files we set on your device when you visit celticpenitentiary.com. Read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your browser to remember things between visits — for example, that you've already accepted the cookie banner. Some cookies last for the current browsing session only; others persist for days or months. Some are set by celticpenitentiary.com (first-party); some by third-party services we use (third-party).
2. Cookies We Set
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie-consent | Celtic Penitentiary | Essential | Stores your cookie banner choices so we don't ask again | 12 months | First |
| nav-pref | Celtic Penitentiary | Functional | Remembers tour-page filters and language preference | 30 days | First |
| plausible_ignore | Plausible Insights | Analytics | Records aggregate, anonymous visit counts (no IP retention beyond 24h) | Session | First (proxied) |
| __stripe_mid / __stripe_sid | Stripe | Essential | Set only on the booking-payment page; fraud prevention | 1 year / 30 min | Third |
We do not set advertising cookies. The "Advertising" toggle in our consent modal is shown for completeness; toggling it has no effect today, but it would have an effect if we ever added advertising in the future.
3. Consent Mechanism
On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the screen lets you choose:
- Accept All — allow essential, functional, analytics (and any future advertising) cookies
- Reject Non-Essential — only essential cookies are set; the rest do not run
- Customize — choose individual categories
Your choice is stored in the cookie-consent first-party cookie. To change your choice later, clear that cookie or your browser cookies for celticpenitentiary.com and the banner will appear again.
4. Browser Instructions
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
For a general overview, see allaboutcookies.org.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The Effective Date and Version above will change. If we add a new category of cookie (especially advertising), the consent banner will reappear so you can review your choices.
